Students participating in the Governor’s Institutes of Vermont
Know any high-school-age hackers? The Governor’s Institutes of Vermont added a new session on hacking and cybersecurity to its Winter Weekend retreats in February, 2016. Vermonters in grades 9 through 12 can apply to take an in-depth, mentored masterclass with Champlain College professor Duane Dunston. According to the class description, participants will “explore vulnerabilities and engineer solutions to the vast world of cyber crime.”
That session takes place Friday through Sunday, February 19 to 21, at Goddard College in Plainfield. It’s one of several tech-related Winter Weekend offerings, including astrophotography, entrepreneurship, biomedical research and girls’ advanced math. Some of the classes are scheduled for the first weekend of the month, February 5 to 7.
Tuiton for the three-day session is $295, though financial assistance is available. Find the full schedule and a link to the online application here.
